Description
One of two taverns The Piper frequents. We found him here in 15-Joining Forces > Outside The South Tavern, with Bruce and what Yharov heard as 30 or so archers set up inside. Bruce’s black horse was out front.
His “dungeon” was in the basement. The way in was a puzzle: a locked door marked with a musical staff, a tomb, a book of Milil, and two fireplaces, nearly all of it magical. Approaching the door plays a single note; name it and the door opens. Theodore solved it with a natural 20.
We killed the Piper in the chamber beyond in 16-Killing The Piper.
Notes
- The book of Milil describes a way to make the listener feel music, which may be why Silence couldn’t be counted on against the Piper
- Two statues stand in the back room: Sable Dawnwick, the Starkeeper, a halfling woman with psychic blades and a headscarf (a PC from The First Story, another campaign in our world; King Halfred supposedly had the statue erected of her), and Vigel Revere, a broad-shouldered dwarf noble who fought in The Dwarven War We long rested here after the fight in 17-In Theratinas Head. Some of the tomb weapons had been attuned to people who died holding them, and attuning to them fought back; see 17-In Theratinas Head > Our new items.
