She turns up everywhere. She was invisible against the wall while Bruce talked to us at The Patio, she was on the Blue Cross Bridge the moment we cut The Earrings of Control out of the land mermaid, and she was in the basement of The Crazy One’s House while we were upstairs with the mirror.
She caught us there in 12-The Executioner > In the basement and stopped pretending. She has been letting us collect the 12 Artifacts for her.
She gave us a day’s head start from The Executioner, then cut it to twelve hours out of irritation. On the way out she told us where to go next:
If I were you guys, I would look in Carrowyn for the next artifact. Thankfully now, you can do two things at once to speed things up for us.
What we know
- Her real name is Veronica, per The Piper in 15-Joining Forces > Outside The South Tavern. He had stopped working for her and wanted to usurp her. Bruce is scared of her
- Gale, from a splinter of The Council, knows her
- She wrote The Letter to Grindledark, ordering Ned Grindledark to gather The Earrings of Control, The Ring of Endless Power, and The Necklace of Life, and dangling his son’s resurrection
- She took The Stoneheart off Thompson and abandoned him sick in his camp
- She gave Bruce the job of killing six dragons in Grumdur-Khaz “before they get big”
- She claimed on the bridge to have captured Theratina and implied she killed Diana. Both turned out to be lies
- She charmed us on the way into Myrrh’s Hollow South; Yharov was the only one it didn’t take
- Remove Curse does nothing to her. She cast a custom spell, Fuck Your Mind, on Roz for trying
- The Mirror Of What Is told Raelor that one of the party is lying to us and working for her
- The Prophesizers are led by a good-looking woman, per the gnomes at the CFN Headquarters. It may well be her
- A small girl wearing red says V is the one who put her out back of The Laughing Root, and offered to tell us everything about her
- Bruce says he’s done working with her (17-In Theratinas Head > Bruce shows up). He and The Piper had a plan to stop hers, and he asked the Piper not to “end up like V, essentially freeing The Unknown”
